The half has never been told. I have been thinking for quite a while that I would write to the Journal of the many proofs we have had of the loving care of our Father-Mother God. It was in the spring of 1899 that we first heard of Christian Science. Two of our cousins wrote us of this beautiful truth that sets free; and it brought sunshine to our home.
At this time I was almost blind, my eyes were closed when it was not absolutely necessary to use them, and I was able to read or sew hardly at all. About six years previous to this I had typhoid fever that lasted about three months. As soon as I was well enough I started to school. My eyes not being strong, hard study almost caused me to be blind. An oculist told me a month previous to coming into Science that I would be totally blind in less than twelve months, but thanks to divine Love, through the Christ-truth my eyes, with many other ailments, were healed. I was always considered a very delicate child, now I am as stout and well as any one.
I am thankful to say that our family are all interested in Science. We read Science and Health, "Miscellaneous Writings," the Quarterly, and the other publications. We have had many beautiful demonstrations of which I will give a few. Last fall my dear mother was standing near the fire and fell on the floor. She laughingly said she was not hurt, though when she tried to rise she failed, the cause being a dislocated joint. I helped her into a rocking chair, and drew it to the bed. After she retired I treated her, and in about an hour she said the joint was in place.
