I feel it a privilege to tell what Christian Science has done and is doing for me each day. I first became interested through physical healing, and then came a desire to know how this healing was accomplished. As a child I had been considered very delicate, and at one time physicians told my father that I could not live. Gradually, I became better, but I was never very strong. About six years ago I was so very ill that a doctor in Los Angeles told me that unless I submitted to an operation I could not live more than six months.
Feeling very discouraged, I resigned myself to the inevitable, as I thought. I went to Portland to settle some business affairs and while there heard of Christian Science. I secured treatment, and gradually grew better from day to day, until I knew I was healed.
It was some time after this that I took up the study of Christian Science for myself, and I want to say that the spiritual healing has meant much more to me than the physical. I have learned, by daily struggles with self, to overcome hate, malice, envy, pride; and love has taken their place. I am learning each day to understand that an all-wise Father knows my every need, and that no matter what my seeming trials may be, I know that in keeping my face toward the light I will be guided and delivered by divine Love. I also know that when the next temptation comes I will be better able to meet and destroy it. I have had many proofs of what Christian Science means to the one who earnestly strives to live its teachings, and I rejoice each day that I am learning, step by step, to live the life that Jesus taught.
