Shortly after our family physician, who had attended us for thirty years, passed away, Christian Science was brought to my notice. I read Science and Health, but merely from curiosity, little thinking that it would fill a long-felt want. While thus reading I noticed, to my surprise, that headaches, to which I had been daily subject for years, had left me. This led me to investigate earnestly Christian Science, and I attended the services. Up to that time I had never found in any religious denomination what I had been yearning for, but at these services I did, and went away happy in knowing that I had found the truth. Since that time Christian Science has dispelled fear, worry, and anxiety, lightened cares, and brought peace and harmony into my life; it has helped me to carry burdens which seemed almost unbearable, and caused them to vanish it has comforted me in the hour of grief, and taught me to understand my relationship to God as I never did before. I am deeply grateful for this peace and joy, this change from darkness to understanding, also for the healing of physical ills, which Christian Science has brought about for myself and loved ones. I will mention in part what it has done in this regard.
One of my sons, who was a sufferer from malaria, and who had sought help of six physicians, here and elsewhere, to no avail, turned to Christian Science and was healed. An attack of typhoid fever was overcome for him, when it seemed that he could live only a few hours. Another son was healed in a few treatments of rheumatism in its severest form, and of several tumors. Another son had worn glasses for crossed eyes from the time he was six years old until he was thirteen, when Christian Science healed him. He had no treatments but attended the Sunday School and was an earnest little worker. I sent him into the country to spend his summer vacation, but kept his glasses at home and told him to be faithful to Truth and apply what knowledge he had of Christian Science, and it would free him. When he returned, I was rejoiced to find that his eyes were straight, and since then, now seven years, he has had no use for glasses.
I had been subject for many years to very severe spells of chronic rheumatism,— unable to find relief anywhere until I was treated in Christian Science and healed. Catarrh of the liver, and kidney troubles have been destroyed for me since coming into Christian Science, and many minor ailments have been met from time to time. I have learned to look to God for my supply, and I find that in Him is abundance. In my household duties I find I can accomplish much more, experiencing less fatigue than I ever did in the old thought, and I now wonder how I managed to live so long without the knowledge of God as given us in Science and Health.
