It is indeed a privilege to express my heartfelt gratitude for the protection and peace which Christian Science enables us to demonstrate. A short time ago my husband was called upon to do some surveying of a somewhat dangerous nature amidst coral reefs in tropical waters. It was dangerous from a material standpoint because of unknown shoals and exposure to heavy seas and stormy winds. My husband, being in command of the ship and expedition, decided to have Christian Science govern his movements, and with the additional help of a loving practitioner divine protection was demonstrated in every instance, so that the work was completed in an unexpectedly short time without accident to boats, ship, or men, in spite of seemingly inharmonious conditions of wind and sea. To mortal sense the conditions were such that some loss or accident seemed inevitable.
During this period I was trying to keep my thoughts free from fear, and during the last stages of the work, which proved the most dangerous, I seemed to rise above the material sense of things and gradually to perceive the spiritual universe. I saw that man made in the image and likeness of God, is a part of the divine creation, and that nothing unlike God, good, can be externalized or exist.
Christian Science has also helped us to overcome many ailments. About five years ago, during a severe cholera season in Manila, my husband was stricken with this trouble one evening while at the home of a practitioner. Her prompt and faithful work during the night healed the thought so completely that he was able to return to our home across the bay the next day, a well man. He went to his office and to work thirty-six hours after the first manifestation of the disease, just as if it had never occurred, as in truth it never had.
