In February, 1913, Christian Science...

From the May 1917 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In February, 1913, Christian Science was first brought to my notice when material remedies had been exhausted in the attempt to find relief. I had suffered for years from chronic bowel disorder, acute stomach trouble, and many minor ailments. My healing in Christian Science was slow, but this caused me to search diligently for the truth which makes free, and I am now perfectly well, and stronger than ever before.

I can never be grateful enough for Christian Science, and to all the kind friends who have helped me along the way. I have had many demonstrations of God's power and goodness with my little boy, who was quite frail before coming into Science. Now he is strong and sturdy. A short while ago he swallowed a large safety pin, choking badly over it, but after help was asked for in Science he became perfectly normal. He slept and ate well and played around next day as usual. In less than twenty-four hour he was perfectly free, not having suffered in the least. On another occasion he had a high fever and to mortal sense seemed very sick. I was quite fearful and asked a practitioner to treat him. It seemed, as the Bible tells us, that the angel Michael fought that night against the dragon and prevailed. Truth broke the fear and proved untrue the prophecies of those in the house. The after manifestation of blisters on the child's hands showed me he had been saved from a disease laid down by mortal law as serious.

I have been healed of a great sense of depression as well as of fear and nervousness. I am most grateful, however, for the spiritual uplift, which far exceeds the physical benefits. For these and for many more blessings received in Christian Science, I am thankful to divine Love, also grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has so lovingly shown us how to work out all our problems in Christian Science.—
