[Original testimony in French]

It is with deep gratitude to God...

From the July 1926 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with deep gratitude to God and to Christian Science that I send this testimony. In October, 1921, Christian Science was a great help to me at the birth of a child. This deliverance presented itself under most serious forms; and several doctors said my condition was desperate.

Though I had already become acquainted with Christian Science, nevertheless I had to submit to the customary laws and accept the doctors and nurses. I suffered a great deal; however, I tried, with the help of my husband and of a practitioner, to put into practice all that I understood of Christian Science. Not for an instant did my faith fail me. I clung to God's promises and mastered the false beliefs about me, thus proving the unreality of error and the perfection of the truth. The kind words of the practitioner gave me confidence and courage. All went for the best, and this was cause for surprise and astonishment to the doctors. I am happy to be able to state to-day that I owe my life to Christian Science.

However, I still had to go through another trial; for three weeks after this experience I suffered from great pain in my sides. Then complications arose in the form of broncho-pneumonia and pleurisy, accompanied with severe fits of hysteria. This time I refused the presence of any doctor and strictly refused to take any medicine. I recognized God as the only liberator, and my confidence did not fail me. I was convinced that the truth would set me free. In spite of all, my condition grew worse from day to day. I could not take any nourishment, and to mortal sense I grew noticeably weaker. The treatments given to me by the practitioner, however, finally brought me new light and comfort. The healing was slow, for I must have had many weeds to uproot and destroy; and it was soon shown me that I had been working more with will power than with understanding. I realized how much more I had still to learn on that point. Finally the day came when the victory was glorious and the spiritual awakening took place. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy seemed a new book to me. The practitioner came to see me and rejoiced with me, for I felt I was healed. Soon I became stronger, grew stouter, and gained twenty-six pounds in weight.
