In loving gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me and mine, I wish to give this testimony. It has been my only help for about eight years. When I first turned to Christian Science, I was suffering from a severe nervous breakdown. I had tried almost everything else with little relief. One day a friend who knew of Christian Science asked my mother why we did not at least try it. Ever since I could remember I had been taught in our home to hate what my parents thought was Christian Science. They had it confused with so-called mental science. My mother finally suggested that I try it; and I was healed in a week. Since that time I have been healed of constipation, indigestion, headaches, infection, pleural pneumonia, ptomaine poisoning, tonsillitis, and many other ills. In each of these cases Truth has uncovered and destroyed the error; and for all these healings I am indeed truly grateful, for Christian Science has taught me to know my Father-Mother God better.
I have two little boys who were born under Christian Science treatment. The births were normal and with no severe pain. The boys have had many wonderful and quick healings of children's diseases, a healing of whooping cough taking place overnight. I have found that when we turn entirely to God, our Leader's statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," may be proved true. Where antagonism for Mrs. Eddy once was, love and gratitude are now. After visiting Boston and seeing how Mrs. Eddy labored to give us this truth, I was ashamed to think I had ever hated her.
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church; also for class instruction, which has unfolded in many beautiful ways. My greatest desire is that I may live in such a way as to be worthy of the name Christian Scientist — Bloomington, Indiana.
