MULTITUDES of mortals are seeking and longing for a more abundant and satisfying life, a life freed from fear, suffering, lack, unhappiness, and war. In the clear teachings of Christian Science all may find the way to gain this limitless good. For through revelation and demonstration our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has given us the key of spiritual understanding which has unlocked the rich treasures of truth contained in the Bible, thereby freeing us physically and morally, and giving us a secure basis of spiritual knowledge from which to solve our every human problem.
During his healing ministry Jesus, the master Metaphysician, continually proved that expansion into freedom and harmony comes with a recognition of man's absolute oneness with God, divine Love. He was always about the business of knowing and demonstrating that man is the image and likeness of God, spiritual and perfect. Coming with healing compassion to a sick and sin-weary world, he said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Christian Science reveals that Jesus was not speaking of himself as a personal Saviour, but of the impersonal Christ, and establishing for all time the law of health, purity, and abundant harmony. On page 583 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy defines "Christ" as "the divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error." And this "divine manifestation" of good, which proves man's inseparable unity with God, is the Comforter promised by the Master, and is present to heal and save from all beliefs of the flesh just as surely today as did Christ, Truth, nineteen centuries ago.
We see, then, that this expansion into a fuller, freer life is entirely a mental process, gained through spiritual understanding of the omnipotence of good. Christian Science tenderly assures us that God's man is free, sinless, and wholly perfect, as was proved by Jesus in his healing ministry. Actually man cannot experience pain or limitation of any kind, since he is the complete expression of God's infinite goodness and perfection. By holding thought steadfastly to this glorious truth we behold the man of God's creating, and in this clear perception of man we rise above the temptation to believe in and behold in ourselves or in others, a sick, sinful, or unhappy mortal. We are in fact entering into a more abundant and satisfying life.
