GRATITUDE

From the November 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Affliction seemed to hold me bound,
And helplessness to be my plight,
Until I sought my God, and found
In Him my health, my life, my light.
I felt His loving, healing grace,
His holy, omnipresent power,
Which knows no limit, time nor space,
But blesses all through every hour.

Dear Father, may I then so live
That men may know that Thou art Life,
That Thou and only Thou dost give
The peace that stills all earthly strife.
May I in gratitude proclaim
The truth that makes Thy children free,
That men may praise Thy holy name
And feel their unity with Thee!
