THE MAN YOU ARE

From the November 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"NOW are we the sons of God." Profound statement! Spiritual man, and there is no other, is the son, the idea or expression, of God, divine Mind. The Science of being permits no other expression. Therefore, Christian Science teaches that nothing is true about man that is not a manifestation of the one Mind, and this is in accord with the Scriptures: "In him we live, and move, and have our being."

This realization of man's unity with God gives mankind access to divine Mind's infinite capacities. Then, in our real being, there is no limit to our God-given abilities. Our true supply is the continuous incoming to our consciousness of the ideas of Soul, which cannot be diminished by imposition or taxation. Our outlook is in the eternal harmony, the unfolding bliss of inexhaustible good; and dominion over evil is paramount, for Truth inevitably destroys error. Such is the nature of the real man, because there is none other.

Is it not natural, then, that men should look for and find their true being and complete satisfaction in the substance of Spirit, of good? For, as Christian Science reveals, the real man has no desire or inclination but that which comes from Spirit; he knows no cause, intelligence, or power outside of divine Principle. In writing of spiritual existence, as distinguished from the material and false, Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 14), "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth."
