OUR TASK

From the November 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Beside the pool, in desert wastes,
Along the lonely road,
On crowded city thoroughfares—
Wherever men abode—
There Jesus walked as one who served,
And troubled mankind healed,
And through his wondrous words and deeds
God's love for man revealed.

Within the temple questioning,
Out on the storm-tossed sea,
Upon the hill of Golgotha,
At one with God was he,
Expressing wisdom, peace, and love,
Reflecting Life divine,
And we must follow in his steps—
This is your task, and mine.
