SPIRITUAL CONSCIOUSNESS

From the November 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

PONDERING deeply the allness of God as revealed in the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the student is brought face to face with the fact that perfect God brings forth only that which is perfect, and that creation is not what the five physical senses represent it to be. As he gets clearer views of what God —the source of all creation—is, his understanding of God's manifestation or creation unfolds naturally.

The first chapter of Genesis makes clear that man is the image and likeness of God; that is to say, that man is the expression or reflection of God. As the sun gives forth light, so God expresses Himself through His likeness, man. Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 361), "As a drop of water is one with the ocean, a ray of light one with the sun, even so God and man, Father and son, are one in being."

Man, made in God's image and likeness, is always spiritually conscious; and because God is All-in-all and there is no room for aught else, there is in reality no material consciousness. This fact, as understood in Christian Science, is provable.
