In the Manual of The Mother Church (Art. VIII, Sect. 24) we find these words," 'Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's' (St. Paul). Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (Psalm 103:3)." I am sure no one realizes the importance of testimony more than I. Many times I have found help when I have been seeking for the solution of some problem through the reading of a testimony given by someone who had found the answer to a similar problem; and I earnestly hope that my testimony may benefit some other seeker after Truth.
Until about eighteen years ago I had not heard much about Christian Science; and then I learned of it through a dear friend, a student of Christian Science, who brought this truth to a loved one who was in great need of both mental and physical healing. I shall never forget my reaction to my first reading of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy; the book answered so many questions that had filled my thought. Since early childhood I had been an ardent student and a great lover of the Bible, and had done quite a bit of work in the Sunday school and other branches of an orthodox church. On studying the Bible in connection with Science and Health, I found light shed on much that had before seemed obscure; and through constant study of our Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, I find the Bible becoming more clearly understood and more practical than before.
Our first healing, with the aid of a practitioner, was the discarding of glasses by our eldest son, then about sixteen years of age, who had been in bondage to weak eyes since he was six years old. He also was healed overnight of acute appendicitis, through the help of a practitioner. Other healings have followed, such as those of influenza, dysentery, and neuritis.
