It is with a desire to thank God that I offer this testimony of gratitude for His law, Christian Science, which has been revealed in this age by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
Twenty years ago I experienced my first healing in Christian Science. Arriving after a long journey at the home of a Christian Scientist, I was unable to speak because of an ulcerated throat. That evening I was given a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy to read. It was opened at page 468, and I was asked if I would try to memorize "the scientific statement of being" found thereon. I studied earnestly, but when it was time to retire I could not remember it, and still could not speak even in a whisper. I awoke very early the next morning in the midst of a mental recitation of this "statement of being." Feeling very joyful about this, I hurried to tell my friend, who met me with a smile at the foot of the stairs. I repeated this beautiful "scientific statement of being" word for word, and then he said, "You realize that you are healed?" Only then did I grasp the fact that I was free. The error had vanished, and I have never been troubled with this throat ailment since, although from my early childhood sore throat had been regularly experienced.
Christian Science has destroyed many erroneous conditions for my two daughters and me. It has healed colds, fevers, headaches, whooping cough, chicken pox, sties, boils, sprains, and burns. While living in the home of a Christian Science practitioner, I had for two or three days endeavored to do my work to prove my younger daughter's freedom from fever; but when I noticed one evening that she had the symptoms of measles, I ran downstairs and asked the practitioner to help. Divine Love flooded my consciousness, and in peace I turned to go up the stairs. Before I reached the first landing, I had truly dropped "my burden at His feet" and the error had vanished, because, although I slept in the same bed with my child, I did not remember any of the erroneous conditions until her freedom from blemish and fever was seen in the morning.
