I should like to take this opportunity of expressing my thanks to God, to Christ Jesus, our Wayshower, and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for all the blessings I have received through the teachings of Christian Science.
After I had suffered for many years and had been under the care of several doctors, seeking for health and happiness but finding none, Christian Science found me. A friend asked me if I should like to read some literature, and he gave me a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel, and a pamphlet. While reading in the Sentinel the testimony of a woman who had been healed of the same troubles through which I was passing, I declared that if God had healed her He would heal me; and I was healed of an internal trouble which I had feared would mean an operation. I was so uplifted that I sought the nearest church, five miles away, and attended the Wednesday evening testimony meeting.
I was impressed with the way the usher met me and with the service. The testimonies given inspired me, and I borrowed a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I studied the book every possible moment and saw this was the truth I had been seeking for so long. After a fortnight I bought a copy of my own, and in a month's time I was healed of a gastric ulcer on account of which I had had to diet for over five years, and which I had been told no medical operation could reach. At the same time I was healed of inflammation in one of my legs, for which I was wearing a bandage from the knee to the foot. I am grateful to say that for fifteen years there has been no return of this difficulty.
