My introduction to the study of Christian Science was through a healing of nervous exhaustion and heart trouble. I had been under materia medica for about five years, constantly growing worse, till at last, young as I was, life did not seem worth living. Very doubtingly I went to a practitioner, and slowly but surely I was healed and made new, loving God as never before, and being filled with gratitude for our beloved Leader.
Since that time, years ago, God has shown me blessing after blessing, not only for myself but for all my family. My mother was healed of four broken bones at the age of seventy-nine by mental surgery alone, walking in six months without crutch or cane. She lived for years afterward. A sister, who was in an automobile accident at the age of sixty-eight, received injuries consisting of a broken arm and leg, and a crushed shoulder. She was completely healed and was normal in three months. She is still lively and useful, and in better health than before. A brother was healed of pneumonia and jaundice, after he had been given up by three physicians. His healing took place years ago.
Christian Science has been my only physician for years. Not a dose of medicine has been in our home since this Science came into our lives. Rheumatism, influenza, sick headaches, typhoid fever, sprained ankles, burns, and lesser ailments have been healed through the power of Truth. But most beautiful of all has been the understanding of God's presence. I used to think of Him as a God far away. Now I know Him as ever-present Love.
