I am so very grateful for Christian Science that I should like to tell of a healing which I received many years ago. This healing has always stood out in my consciousness, for it showed me very clearly what Mrs. Eddy meant when she said (Science and Health, p. 368), "When fear disappears, the foundation of disease is gone." For many years I was subject to acute attacks of tonsillitis, sometimes once or twice during a winter. I was very fearful of these attacks because they meant so much pain, fever, and discomfort. I would be put to bed for a few days, and it would be as many more before I would regain my strength.
I had been interested in Christian Science for some time, when I awakened one morning with all the symptoms of tonsillitis. However, I did not have the slightest sense of fear. My husband said he had never seen my throat in a worse condition. I dressed and went downstairs. During the forenoon a friend invited me to go out for a sleigh ride, and I accepted. As I remember, it was a beautiful, clear, cold day and we were out for about two hours. Still I had no fear or foreboding in regard to results. The next morning, while I was dressing, the entire covering of the tonsils was expelled. I have never had another attack of this trouble, and that was thirty or more years ago.
