Testimonies of Healing

It is with deep joy and gratitude,...

From the July 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with deep joy and gratitude, and with the hope that it may encourage and help to be patient those whose healing seems to come slowly, that I contribute my testimony.

Having been brought up by deeply religious people, I learned at a very early age to trust and depend on God in all kinds of trouble and difficulties. At a time when I was in great need and sorrow, friends presented Christian Science to me, but I refused it because of what I imagined it to be.

As time went on physical troubles steadily grew worse, although the best help that medical science could render was lovingly given for many years. Finally, in 1928, without in the least considering what the results would be regarding my profession as a registered nurse, I decided to try Christian Science. This determination was the direct result of earnest prayer for light. I knew that when we trust God fully He leads and governs our every step. I therefore threw away all medicine and went to a Christian Science Reading Room, where I bought most of the writings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy; and I started in real earnest to find out what had been lacking in my concept of God.

During the intervening years, as my thought has become more humble and receptive, stomach trouble, sick headaches, seasickness, and faults of character have slowly yielded to the truth.

Truly "the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places." In the midst of the so-called depression, and when mortal mind said that age was against me, positions opened up easily, each one better than the last.

I am deeply grateful for a beautiful home which was offered to me about three months after I gained an understanding that home is the consciousness of omnipresent and omnipotent Love; of dwelling "in the secret place of the most High" as the beloved of Love.

I am deeply grateful for the loving help given by practitioners, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, for class instruction, for the literature, and for the privilege of being allowed to serve in the Sunday school and other church activities. May the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" be in me, is my constant prayer.—
