Many years ago I first attended a Christian Science service. Desire for a consistent explanation of the Scriptures was the motive which led me there. We are told in Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 1), "Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds." My need for a clearer understanding of the Bible and its many promises has been and is being met daily. The conviction that I had found the truth came to me at that service, and I have been attending the Christian Science church ever since. I am grateful for membership in a branch church as well as in The Mother Church.
I was so eager to learn of this truth that I read long into each night for a week, until I had finished reading Science and Health. A message that has been the essence of Christian Science to me from my first acquaintance with our textbook is Mrs. Eddy's comment on the words of Jesus which she quoted (p. 442): "'Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.' This truth is Christian Science."
The realization of the truth of these words changed my whole concept of life. I wrote of it to my sister, who was in college at the time, and she too seemed to grasp the significance of its message without any opposition. Through the ensuing years Christian Science has met our every need when faithfully applied. The problem of supply has been met for us a countless number of times. My sister and I are teaching in our fourth school together, and we feel that each step has been a progressive one and an added proof that "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way" (ibid., p. 454).
