We read in the Bible, in Psalms "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings." This verse might well have been applied to me at the time Christian Science was presented to me, for I was indeed in a horrible pit, steeped in the belief of materiality with its false pleasures and pains.
Christian Science was presented to me by my aunt and uncle. I had been in a sanatorium for about nine months and was being treated for pulmonary tuberculosis, from which the doctors said I could not recover. I did not grasp Science readily, for I had been a medical nurse, and found it difficult to let go of the old theories. Yet I knew Christian Science was the healing truth, so I continued to study; and with the loving help of a practitioner and kind friends, I received a new understanding of God and His love. I was divinely led to take my stand for Truth, leave the sanatorium, and go to the home of the aunt and uncle who had presented Christian Science to me. In this home I was surrounded by love, and given every opportunity to study Christian Science, attend church services, and hear lectures. From this time on I progressed rapidly, and soon received my complete healing. This healing took place about three years ago. Today I am privileged to lead a free, active, and happy life.
I have had many proofs of God's loving care, in healings of sore throat, headaches, the smoking habit, and many other difficulties.
