In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says (pp. 476, 477), "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick."
I am grateful for our Christian Science friends, who endeavor to see man as the Saviour saw him. I feel very grateful for having such a friend, who had patience with me for a period of about seven years, never mentioning religion but always being kind and ready to help.
During this time I had frequent trouble with my back. Physicians had told me that something was out of place near the end of my spine, the result of the accident. Finally I was confined to my home in much misery. This friend called, bringing me a bouquet of roses. I was very rude to her, and asked her why she had come when my house and I were so unpresentable. She very lovingly told me my difficulty was not God's will for me, but still did not speak of Christian Science. When she was ready to leave, I noticed that she had some Christian Science literature, a Journal and a Sentinel. I asked her for them, knowing that I surely needed something. Reading the Sentinel, I began to see the light, and in about three days I was completely healed, not only of the one trouble, but of many others as well. I had taken cathartics for about twenty years daily. Never since have I needed them, for the great Physician has healed me.
