About twelve years ago the daily papers in our city published an article each day warning people of a certain malignant disease. I thought it was my duty to read these articles, although my husband tried to persuade me not to do so.
I contracted the disease and underwent two operations. I had never thought seriously of the spiritual side of life, but, before I underwent the second operation, the thought came to me that if I came safely through I would seek a better understanding of God. When I finally was well enough, I attended my own church more frequently, hoping to gain spiritual enlightenment.
About this time a Christian Science friend invited me to her home, and told me so much in favor of this Science that I said I should like to study it myself. In a few days she brought me the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and after I had read about two chapters I said to my husband, "This is just what I have been wanting all my life." I immediately began to attend the services at a near-by Christian Science church, and very soon my husband went also. In about six weeks we enrolled our two small sons in the Christian Science Sunday School.
