I had known of Christian Science for a number of years, but it was not until I married that I took up its study more seriously and began to put into practice what I knew of Truth. Certain changes and conditions had made me unhappy, and I became melancholy and feared the loss of my reason. At this time a dear friend presented Christian Science to me. Her husband, she said, had been healed in one treatment of hardening of the arteries and the smoking and drink habits, after a physician had said he had not long to live.
I immediately went to a Christian Science Reading Room, bought the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and began to read it and to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. I also began to attend church. I was healed by reading the textbook. Many friends commented upon my changed appearance and disposition.
Since that time, some twenty years ago, progress has been made in the way Mrs. Eddy has so lovingly provided. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, for class instruction in Christian Science, and for our literature, which is a blessing to all mankind.
