To one who understands the rule the solving of a mathematical problem presents no terror or difficulty. Such a person approaches his task with the calm assurance of scientific knowledge. He knows that rightly applying the rule which he has mastered will bring the correct answer.
In like manner, he who understands the rules of Christianly scientific practice is enabled fearlessly to face the complexities of so-called mortal existence. As he studies the teachings of Christian Science, he no longer remains in doubt as to how successfully to cope with the many perplexing problems of daily living. Christian Science gives sure rules, which, when understanding applied, enable one to solve his problems with scientific accuracy and unerring wisdom. What cause it is for gratitude that, instead of groping helplessly in the darkness of ignorance and fear, each one may learn, through the study of this divine Science, how to walk in the spiritual light of freedom, dominion, and scientific knowledge of the truth of being!
How endless, indeed, seem the problems which beset a limited, mortal sense of life! Approached from the standpoint of erring mortal mind, how often these problems appear baffling, terrifying, and insoluble! Small wonder that sooner or later, weary of bearing his burden alone, one turns to divine Mind for comfort, enlightenment, and strength. Mary Baker Eddy describes this yearning after Spirit where she says (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 322): "The sharp experiences of belief in the supposititious life of matter, as well as our disappointments and ceaseless woes, turn us like tired children to the arms of divine Love. Then we begin to learn Life in divine Science."
