RELAY

From the August 1940 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The eagle rests. His prowess through the sky—
Long-tested, battling winds that twist and throw,
With unseen force, the treacherous undertow—
Returns him to his nest. His practiced eye
Appraises there his young before they try
New wings against the tempest's ebb and flow;
Before they pierce the wind clouds as they go.
Symbolic strength and courage passes by!

Just so may he who braves the storm of fear,
The thoughts of hate, return unto his rest
To search the hearts of all recruits upon
The eve of their first flight. May each adhere
To God's own strength and courage in the test,
And clasp the torch, be blessed, and then go on.
