My first big healing in Christian Science took place over forty years ago. I was born cross-eyed, and this defect increased until my eyes were most unsightly to behold. Then I decided to try Christian Science. At first I asked a practitioner to help me, but the unsightliness remained. Then I realized that I had better get to work for myself. I studied the Bible and our Leader's writings with great care, but still the healing did not come. One day I woke up to the fact there was a lot more to Christian Science than merely studying it; that it needed to be demonstrated; and that being a Christian Scientist meant being more loving, gentle, and kind; more honest, courageous, and so on. I set to work to try to express more of these qualities. In doing this I forgot all about my trouble until one day my mother said to me, "You know your eyes are perfectly straight." I ran to the mirror and found this to be the case.
Since that time I have experienced many times the power of Truth to heal the sick. My children came into the world without the usual attendant suffering, and I was soon able to be up and about as usual.
Some years later an attack of partial blindness was healed; and still later an attack of arthritis, which seemed altogether crippling, was met and completely overcome, leaving me free and supple.
