A number of years ago my testimony relating a healing of chronic throat trouble of several years' standing, which had finally resulted in diphtheria, appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel. During the years which have passed there has never been a return of the throat trouble in any way, and it is with a deep sense of humility and appreciation that I offer this testimony, in the hope that it will help someone as I have been helped through reading our periodicals.
Up to the time of my becoming interested in Christian Science, the Bible seemed just a jumble of contradictions, and although I was an active member of an orthodox church, I was not satisfied with my understanding of God and of the Bible. God as Mind and Lawgiver was the first glimpse I received of His nature as understood in Christian Science, and the realization that the law of divine Love is provable, operating constantly and continuously in man's behalf, and that it is a law of recovery from fear, suffering, distress, and separation, was a revelation to me, bringing not only physical healing, but also an understanding of the ever-present, loving Father-Mother, who has never ceased to give comfort when relied upon.
The loss of my parents when I was still quite young filled my thoughts with bitterness and resentment toward God, and I remained in this shadow of sadness and loss, despite my efforts through prayer to find peace of mind, until a loving practitioner applied the law of God, which awakened me from my slumbering sense. I at once withdrew from my former church and anchored my hope on the revelation which I had recently received. Then came the wonderful opportunity of class instruction, which has proved such a blessing and comfort when the way seemed cloudy and dark.
