The awakening statement, "Thou art loosed from thine infirmity," was made nearly two thousand years ago by Christ Jesus, to a woman who for eighteen years had been "bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself." The record continues, "And immediately she was made straight, and glorified God."
Because of his natural spirituality Jesus knew that the only real man is the man of God's creating, His own image and likeness. Accordingly he always claimed his spiritual at-one-ment with God, the Father, and demonstrated this eternal sonship for himself and others.
Christ Jesus knew God; and he knew that man is eternally in the likeness of his creator. Our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick."
