Testimonies of Healing

A friend sent me a copy of the...

From the June 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A friend sent me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, nearly four years ago, when I was sick, depressed, and seemingly beyond help. I had consulted six doctors, but had received only temporary help and continued to lose weight. I had read but a few lines in the textbook when I recognized the fact that this would be interesting reading, and the more I read the more interested I became. I liked the truths which Mrs. Eddy set forth. She explained the Bible logically, whereas before it had seemed to me incomprehensible. I especially liked the chapter on Prayer, and soon recognized the difference between true prayer and the mechanical repetition I had been using.

After several days of reading I was led to consult a Christian Science practitioner. My first visit with her unfolded the truth that man's "birthright is dominion, not subjection" (Science and Health, p. 518). With this unfoldment came the ability to eat anything set before me with thanksgiving. I gave no more thought to diet. Work was taken up by another practitioner, for the first one had to go away. Constipation was overcome, as well as hemorrhoids and hemorrhages; fear abated.

After earnest study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and the Church Manual by Mary Baker Eddy, and loving help from friends and practitioners. I awoke one morning free from all sense of pain associated with ulcers of the stomach. The complete healing was accomplished in nine months. I now enjoy excellent health.
