Under the marginal topic "Mind's ideas faultless," Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, in a brief statement in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," declares (p. 503), "God creates neither erring thought, mortal life, mutable truth, nor variable love." These words find a ready response in the hearts of those who, in the present changing and chaotic material conditions, are looking and longing for enduring peace, imperishable health, abiding love, security, and happiness.
Christian Science holds out to humanity the torch of spiritual understanding as the unfailing remedy for all its sorrow, sin, sickness, sordid poverty, and fears, and assures the sincere seeker for Truth that there is healing for every ill through the prayerful study, persistent application, and consecrated practice of its teachings. These teachings are based on the Bible, and show that a correct concept of God and His government of man and the universe, must be gained, in order to protect ourselves from the false suggestions which materiality and its spurious laws would foist upon us—suggestions of chance, imperfection, dissolution, and the like.
In all respects loyal students of Christian Science accept the great Master, Christ Jesus, to be their true model, as did their beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Frequently, during his earthly ministry, Christ Jesus referred to God as his Father, and continually affirmed his oneness with his heavenly Parent. Moreover, in order that his followers might also attain to this understanding of spiritual sonship and unity with the Father, he prayed "that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us."
