Testimonies of Healing

My bringing up was in the orthodox...

From the June 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My bringing up was in the orthodox faith, and I adhered to it until a little past the age of twenty, when, through a healing of a member of the family, I was led to accept Christian Science. I promised myself that if I became ill I would ask for Science help, but when, shortly afterwards, I was faced with blood poisoning and inflammation of the bladder, I thought the illness too serious and called upon a physician. He filled me with uncertainty and fear, so a Christian Science practitioner was called, and the condition was soon healed. The condition became aggravated after the first treatment, however, and I was very fearful. The practitioner was called by telephone, and she stated that I was "every whit whole," and that I should declare this for myself. I did so immediately and with conviction, every step of the way upstairs. That was the turning point, for I found upon reaching my room that truly I was "every whit whole"—healed! How grateful I was! My whole consciousness was aglow with divine Love.

After I left my paternal home to establish one of my own, my problems again multiplied in many forms, but they were always worked out in the way taught us in our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

When my only daughter was going through a mental illness, my mother passed on, and I lost a very dear friendship. At this point I was led to apply for class instruction from one of Mrs. Eddy's students, who accepted me and expressed such tender love that my problems gradually lost their hold upon me; my daughter was healed, and the peace "which passeth all understanding" was realized. My heart goes out with love and gratitude to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and with desire to help all mankind. There have been countless other healings; in fact, space would not permit telling of all of them, such as those of nervousness, inaction and overaction of the bowels, headaches, ingrown toenails. financial problems, and lonesomeness. God will do His part if we but do ours.—
