The healing power of righteous thinking as taught in Christian Science has been proved many times in my own experience and in that of my family.
An instantaneous healing which I had when I was just a young Sunday school pupil was that of an ugly skin eruption which appeared on my limbs one morning. It was very itchy and seemed to spread as I looked at it. Not wishing to alarm my mother, I decided to try to prove the truth which I had been taught in the Sunday school. I took my textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and went quietly apart to read. When I finished reading the chapter on Prayer, I knew that I was healed. The temptation came to look and see if the evidence was gone, but I rejected this suggestion, for I was confident and had no doubt about my freedom. It was only a few minutes later that I was sent upstairs on an errand. As I ran. I tripped on the steps; stooping to adjust my sock. I realized that no trace of the disturbance remained. This was such a sacred event to me that I could not tell anyone, until I was an applicant for membership in a branch church and the board of directors asked if I had ever proved the healing power of Christian Science, and then I gave this testimony.
One evening my little daughter appeared to have a very high fever, accompanied by delirium. In a firm voice I told her to restate with me the simple truths she had learned; as she made the effort to do this the delirium was broken. I placed the little one in her crib and immediately turned to the textbook. When I finished reading the first chapter, the child was sleeping normally and entirely healed.
