COUNSEL

From the July 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Let us remember Him when days are long
And shadows gather on the changing sky.
Let us be quick to honor Him with song
In whom our hope and our salvation lie.
For life and laughter and our length of days
And for the gift of His enfolding care,
We render thanks, and with glad voices praise
The Giver of the bounty which we share.

He is our strength when other strongholds fail,
Our refuge in the hour of doubt and dread,
Our shield and buckler, and our coat of mail;
He is the hope by which our hearts are fed.
Let us remember Him, all-wise, all-seeing.
In whom we live, and move, and have our being.
