The philosophy of Christ Jesus involved a practical idealism. So effective was the Master's spiritual deliberation that he could permanently heal all manner of sickness, sin, disease, and physical impairment. Indeed, understanding all-powerful divine Mind, God, he proved the powerlessness and unreality of evil in every form. The Master's learning was predicated upon spiritual concepts. He understood God to be ever-present divine Love, Truth, Life, and he clearly recognized the real man as God's likeness or spiritual expression. Through his resurrection and ascension he proved all true spiritual selfhood to be deathless, and this truth is made available today in Christian Science for the benefit of all who would be his followers.
Students of this Science accept the spiritual essence of the Holy Scriptures, and thus increasingly discern the comprehensiveness of pure Christianity. Setting forth the complete and final revelation of the one true spiritual philosophy, the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is in full, demonstrable accord with the inspired Word. Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 271), "Christ's Christianity is the chain of scientific being reappearing in all ages, maintaining its obvious correspondence with the Scriptures and uniting all periods in the design of God." And she continues: "Jesus instructed his disciples whereby to heal the sick through Mind instead of matter. He knew that the philosophy, Science, and proof of Christianity were in Truth, casting out all inharmony."
Many individuals, failing to find surcease from the vicissitudes of a desultory material life in orthodox religion, nevertheless recognize that the exercise of true qualities, such as fair dealing, honesty, and brotherly love, serves to sustain thought. However, through acceptance of the unassailable doctrine of Christ Jesus, as illumined in Christian Science, the same divine Principle demonstrated by Jesus and his followers in Galilee is made available today through study of this glorious revelation.
