I am glad to express in writing the gratitude I feel for all the good I have experienced through the study and application of Christian Science as given to the world in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our courageous and much-beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
This truth was presented to me about ten years ago by my wife, who had heard about it from a friend. At the time I was attending no church, nor had I attended any since childhood. At first I wanted no part of it, but later decided to go to a Wednesday evening meeting just to find out what its teachings were. I was immediately helped. Then I purchased the textbook and read it far into the night. I wondered how it was I had not heard of this before. Here was something real that I could cling to. Here was a God who could and would help me—if I did my part. But was it not too good to be true? Later I saw that the only way to find that out would be to study it, follow the instructions conscientiously, and see.
I had been suffering from stomach trouble, extreme nervousness, and headaches, but in a very short time these were healed. Never since that time have I used any material remedy, nor lost a single day from business because of illness. I was healed of cigarette smoking, and as a result of this healing another member of the family discontinued the habit. Later social drinking was overcome. There was no struggle, nor any sense of deprivation. It was simply that I had found something so much more worth while. So I had my answer— Christian Science does heal!
