In the Christian Science textbook...

From the July 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy has given us a most precious recipe for the healing of all problems. That Christian Science heals has been proved many times by its students. In this troubled world it is an oasis to those seeking living water to quench their thirst, refresh their thinking, and purify their mental environment.

Christian Science not only heals disease and other discordant conditions, but it also is a preventive of all sorts of unpleasant experiences. It unites estranged families, and brings abundant joy and harmony where before such things were practically lacking.

Though I became interested in Christian Science chiefly through a desire to find an applicable, usable religion, later I was healed of many ills, such as susceptibility to colds, grippe, blood poisoning, and being almost overcome by the heat. An outstanding healing was that of bronchial asthma, at a time when it seemed as though each breath I drew would be the last. When this difficulty, through the help of a practitioner, unclasped its hold, there came a peace and freedom far greater than I had ever known. This gave me more confidence and courage to press on in greater effort to understand this teaching and its clear interpretation of the Bible.
