When Christian Science was first presented to me I was suffering from ulcers of the stomach. A stomach specialist had treated me for six weeks and said he could do no more for me. He said that an operation might help, but that I was too weak to undergo one. A customer of our store learned of my condition and told my husband of her wonderful healing in Christian Science, and we decided to try it at once. My husband called a practitioner, and I know I was healed during the first treatment, for I was able to get up. After the third treatment I said I was hungry, and the practitioner told me to go to the table and eat with the family. I did so and enjoyed my meal with no ill effects. I was overjoyed to know I had been healed through prayer, for I felt so much nearer to God.
Christian Science has met our every need for many years. Among the many healings we have had are those of scarlet fever, influenza, tumor, smallpox, and blood poisoning. On one occasion my hand went through an electric wringer, which crushed the bones. Christian Science help was called for, and I was using my hand in two weeks.
Words cannot express my gratitude for these healings. But there is one thing that transcends all others: I have truly learned the meaning of Love. Through the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, we find we can love our neighbor as ourselves.
