When I turned to Christian Science everything seemed wrong with my affairs, and I was in a mental turmoil. I had moved to a city where I was without friends or even acquaintances. Here I experienced a failure in marriage, met with ill-health, unemployment, financial reverses, and threatened loss of home. With a daughter to support, I was at my extremity and in great fear that she might not be able to complete her course in high school, which she had just entered.
Then I was told of Christian Science by a loving neighbor of only a few weeks' acquaintance. I was told about the work of practitioners in Christian Science, and called on one. Treatment was lovingly given, and I found employment for short periods. Although my affairs did not improve at once, I became happier and more peaceful.
This peace gave me hope, and the courage to continue with Christian Science, for I saw that if there was one thing more than another that I was seeking it was peace, a surcease from mental anxiety. The peace and satisfaction I gained so strengthened my faith in Science that I purchased the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and began the study thereof in connection with the Bible.
