Testimonies of Healing

In the Bible we read: "What shall...

From the August 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the Bible we read: "What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?... I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people." And our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us in our textbook, Science and Health (p. 372), "In Christian Science, a denial of Truth is fatal, while a just acknowledgment of Truth and of what it has done for us is an effectual help." This is true, for during the twenty-seven years since I began studying Christian Science, the testimonies of healing given in the periodicals and at the Wednesday evening meetings have been a constant inspiration.

From childhood I had loved the Bible, but Christian Science shed new light on its sacred message. I am increasingly grateful for the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly which answer each week's problems through spiritual unfoldment.

My problems have been many and seemingly severe, but I have learned to look for the lesson in each one, which has proved to be the blessing that has lifted me higher. I know what our dear Leader meant when she wrote in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (pp. 149, 150): "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee. Therefore despair not nor murmur, for that which seeketh to save, to heal, and to deliver, will guide thee, if thou seekest this guidance."
