I had a dear friend who was interested in Christian Science and wanted me to see a practitioner. I had been brought up to believe in medicine and that if the doctor could not help me, it was useless to try. I did not believe in Christian Science because it was founded by a woman.
As time went on, however, the condition grew worse. I was driving a truck at the time, and when these spells would come on me I would have to drive to the side of the road, stop, and wait until they passed away. My friend asked me from time to time to try Christian Science, so, mostly to please this friend, I consented to see a practitioner. This friend later became my wife.
