Testimonies of Healing

During high school I enrolled in the college...

From the December 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

During high school I enrolled in the college preparatory course and in other ways got ready for college. Graduation was near and my trunk partly packed when my parents told me that because of the illness of one of them college would be impossible. Bitter disappointment followed. I immediately went to a Christian Science practitioner, who very lovingly went over the problem with me. Resentment and disappointment gave way to gratitude as the practitioner turned my thought to God. As human will faded, the opportunity to enter a near-by state normal school unfolded. I have always been grateful for the lesson learned concerning human planning and outlining. I am very grateful that I was led to the type of school and to the particular school that I entered. Many times since I have realized that this school met my particular need more than a college would have done, although college appeared more glamorous. As Mrs. Eddy says (Poems, p. 79),

"It matters not what be thy lot,
So Love doth guide."

Many times I was tempted to stop my course and get work, for my help seemed to be needed at home. Reliance on God brought about the decision to keep going. I knew that nothing could keep my rightful place from me, and that place would be revealed to me clearly if I was steadfast in my reliance upon Him.
