With deep gratitude I testify to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. I was healed of a trouble which defied medical aid, was lifted out of darkness into light, and this liberation has brought me happiness beyond words to describe.
I began the study of Christian Science many years ago, but my progress was interrupted before I became fully grounded in its teachings. I was taken from my family and placed in an institution for mental cases, and while confined there I was not permitted to read Science literature. But I could remember some of the Commandments and the Beatitudes, also passages that I had learned from the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. These I would repeat over and over.
I remained in this environment for several years, occasionally glimpsing a ray of Truth, which spurred me on, though I was never quite able to anchor my faith where it would hold. In due course a Bible was placed in my hands, unknown, of course, to the institution authorities, and I read it whenever I was left alone. The reading brought me comfort and buoyed up my hope. The very first time I opened the book my eyes fell upon this verse (Ps. 35:1): "Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me."
