In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy we read (p. 249), "Let us rejoice that we are subject to the divine 'powers that be.'" When I first learned about Christian Science and realized that I was subject only to the power of God, it was as if I had been born again. I read Science and Health and found that it contained the solution to all my problems. I had a great desire to find out all I could about this religion. I selected a Christian Science practitioner, whom I visited the next day. I shall ever be grateful for her strong stand for God, divine Principle, and her emphasis on the importance of referring often to the Manual of The Mother Church. Through the years I have been protected, guided, and blessed many times by this thorough introduction to Christian Science.
I have been healed of insincerity— one of the things one is apt to overlook as unimportant. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 453), "Honesty is spiritual power."
Christian Science came to me while I was still a medical nurse. I finally saw that I could not continue in this work, and eventually quit active duty. The suggestions of medical teaching came back many times to test me after I took this step. I am grateful to say that they were blotted out, sometimes through my own efforts and at other times with the help of a practitioner. I am grateful for the Christian Science help that was given at the births of our two children.
