Over seven years ago my eight-year-old daughter was stricken with severe pains in her back. This condition increased in intensity and was accompanied by an extremely high temperature. An aunt urgently requested that the child be taken to a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. This relative said she thought Christian Science help might be desirable, but that she did not believe God alone could accomplish the healing. However, I am happy to say her advice was not heeded. I had not realized until that moment how strong my faith in God was. I knew that the truths of God and man were the only help and medicine the child needed.
A Christian Science practitioner was called, and the work was taken up. At that time the child was unable to walk and had to be carried from place to place. One day she was observed moving one of her legs with her hands, and she asked me why she could not move her leg naturally.
After another week's treatment the normal activity of the leg was restored, and the child began to walk for the first time in thirty-one days. One leg was noticeably shorter than the other, and there was quite a limp. However, the child's faith in God did not waver, and in a short time a complete healing was accomplished. My heart overflowed with gratitude for God's tender, constant care. Considerable lost weight was soon regained, and the child has enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, roller skating, and many other sports in the years which have followed.
