For over thirty-five years I have enjoyed the profound sense of security which Christian Science gives to all who look upon it as the Comforter forecast by Jesus. During periods of stress I have always been able to remain calm because of a trust which simply cannot be shaken. As one of the loved hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal says (No. 86):
O blest is he to whom is given
The instinct that can tell
That God is on the field, although
He seems invisible.
Many proofs of the efficacy of the scientific application of Christianity have been experienced in our family. We have had healings of numerous physical disorders, including burns, a dislocated shoulder, constipation, colds, sore throat, severe earache, fever, croup, grippe, and whooping cough, as well as of the smoking habit. All these healings were accomplished solely through the application of Christian Science. Not only for these physical healings, but for the overcoming of other types of discord, such as resentment and self-pity, and for spiritual guidance and help in all times of need, I am extremely grateful.
