Thirty years ago Christian Science came into my life. This beautiful religion lifted me out of a chronic state of fear and illness into health and joy and has given me a deep trust in God as infinite, eternal Love. For this I owe endless gratitude and love to our great Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, opened up to me a new world, wherein spiritual perfection and harmony can be understood and demonstrated in verification of the teachings of Christ Jesus that "the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matt. 10:7). It has made the Bible understandable and usable, rich in spiritual counsel and comfort.
My first physical healings were those of a painful hip condition of several years' standing and of a skin ailment which had not yielded after several months' treatment by a prominent physician. Both of these healings took place within a few days after my first visit to a Christian Science practitioner. Our two children were born under Science treatment, with a midwife, who was a student of Christian Science, in attendance. Thirty hours after the birth of our second child I was up, dressed, and in perfect health, taking full care of the baby. A contagious skin disease later appeared on both children. This was healed when the truth unfolded to me that the blotches were nothing more than false mental pictures in my fear-filled consciousness.
