Christian Science has indeed been proved to me to be the pearl of great price.
In 1945 I had gone to attend my association in a large city. I was crossing a busy highway where there was no stop light, when a car knocked me down. I felt God's presence and His angels all around me and declared that there are no accidents in God's kingdom. Silently I praised God and thanked Him. Had I not been conscious of this presence and protection, I should undoubtedly have been run over by one of the many cars that were rushing by.
I caught my bus and rode for about an hour to the hotel. Error tried in many ways to frighten and discourage me. One argument was, "You cannot tell until forty-eight hours have elapsed just how badly you are hurt." I reversed this and declared, "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword." Then the thought came that it was too bad that I was alone and far from home. To this statement I replied, "I am never alone," and recalled the words from Deuteronomy (20:4), "The Lord your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." When I started down for dinner, error screamed again and very loudly, but I paid no heed to it, except to deny its lies. Then again it said, "You will never be able to attend your association tomorrow." This also was reversed, and I did attend, and many blessings came from it.
