I am grateful that my extreme skepticism as to the healing effect of Christian Science was overcome in the most convincing way —by the accomplishment of the very result I had doubted.
At one time I was having a great deal of trouble with verrucae on the sole of my foot. I visited many chiropodists, but painful treatment over a long period failed to heal me. About this time I became acquainted with Christian Science, and though not believing in its healing power, I thought it an interesting subject to study, so continued to read. One day, while having a bath, I saw that not only was the sole of my foot entirely free from verrucae, but the skin was smooth and soft, as if it had been renewed. I was so amazed and thrilled that I wanted to shout. Eureka! for I knew that I had found the pearl of great price. Now I could continue my study of Christian Science with full faith in its healing power, for I knew that only Christian Science had healed me, because I had given up the expensive and unsuccessful chiropodists' treatment many months before.
My faith has been confirmed by numerous other healings, not only physical but also mental, as shown in the progressive uncovering and annihilating of false and undesirable traits of character. I have been quickly healed of sprained ankle, wasp sting, burns, erysipelas, yellow jaundice, and resentment and have had an instantaneous healing of a severe bilious attack by the recognition and acknowledgment of the truth that "man is never sick, for Mind is not sick and matter cannot be" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 393).
