More than thirty-two years ago occurred the greatest event of my life. I was visiting in my childhood home on a farm. My older sister also was a visitor, and my younger sister was still at home. They were new students of Christian Science, and uppermost in their thoughts was the desire to see me become a student.
The first day of my visit they invited me to listen to them read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, which I did rather reluctantly. I did not understand the reading from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and my interest was not in the least aroused. On the second day when they again invited me to join them in reading the Lesson, I declined.
A few days later my younger sister handed me a book, saying: "This is 'The Life of Mary Baker Eddy' by Sibyl Wilbur. I thought you might enjoy looking at the pictures." I did enjoy looking at them, and when I had finished, I turned to the beginning, thinking that merely through curiosity I would read a few pages. To my surprise I became so intensely interested that I could scarcely eat or sleep until I had finished the book.
