I should like to express gratitude to our Father-Mother God for the physical healings, guidance, and protection which have been mine through the study of Christian Science. For a number of years I had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School. The truths I learned there have helped me all my life. When a small child, I was healed of a serious case of malaria through the work of a faithful practitioner. Although this healing was not a quick one, I was able to start the fall term of school well and strong, and the healing proved permanent.
Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 369), "The prophylactic and therapeutic (that is, the preventive and curative) arts belong emphatically to Christian Science, as would be readily seen, if psychology, or the Science of Spirit, God, was understood." Over the years Christian Science has kept me well, and the few physical difficulties I have had have been readily met. With Christian Science treatment I have had two experiences of harmonious and practically painless childbirth. Each time it was necessary for me to travel a great distance alone. This was done with no fear, and there were no ill effects. I found the study of the paragraph under the marginal heading "Scientific obstetrics," on page 463 of Science and Health, most helpful. There was no period of convalescence. A nurse was present, but at no time was a physician consulted. For the love and untiring efforts of the practitioner who helped me through these experiences, I shall never cease to be grateful.
Mrs. Eddy's years of sacrifice and humility have made the way of salvation plain for all to understand and demonstrate. Is it any wonder that I, along with countless other Christian Scientists, am grateful for Mrs. Eddy's contribution to the world?—Rochester. New York.
